Willesden Jewish Cemetery has been a prestigious burial ground for London’s Jewish community since 1873.

Between 2015 and 2021 grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund enabled the United Synagogue to create a new visitor experience at Willesden Cemetery and to start a major transformation to conserve its rich heritage for future generations. The “House of Life” heritage project has created a new Visitor Centre and garden areas, conserved listed buildings and significant memorials, and has introduced exhibits and events for new audiences.

Local people from Brent, school students, Londoners and everyone digging into family history will find a warm welcome at London’s Place to Remember.

The United Synagogue has now opened up the cemetery for the wider public to discover and explore. We have a new Heritage Centre with fascinating displays and you can learn more about the worlds and customs of the cemetery through new panels in the grounds and exhibits in the funerary buildings. We welcome visitors to join guided walks, pick up a leaflet and set off on their own, or to follow our special Discovery Trails for kids 7-11 and 11-14. We are developing our schools offer too and have an exciting events programme throughout the year, online and at the cemetery.
