Heritage Open Day

Join us for another exciting FREE Heritage Open Day celebration of culture, history and community. This year we are exploring some fascinating culinary connections!

Come and hear our two guest speakers as well as take part in our brand new guided walk.

-  THE RISE AND FALL OF BOURNEMOUTH’S JEWISH HOTELS

Geoffrey Feld will give us some fascinating insights about the hotels in Bournemouth including the famous Cumberland Hotel. His mother, the legendary Bluma Feld, set the standard for the Jewish package holiday on the South Coast, whilst offering big names in entertainment and huge quantities of high-quality kosher food.

 - BLOOMS!

Pam Fox, author and social historian, will talk to us about the history of Blooms, the internationally renowned restaurants. Pam’s books include Jewish Community of Golders Green, The Rinkoff Story, and Jews by the Seaside. Her next full-length book is on the history of the celebrated Blooms’ restaurant and manufacturing firm. The Blooms’ Story, 1920-2010: Noshstalgia, is largely based on oral history interviews which provide poignant memories and anecdotes that bring the narrative alive.

- Join us on the special Culinary Connections Guided Walk to discover more unexpected and appetising stories in Willesden Jewish Cemetery!
